Can zero-proof spirits be used to make low-ABV cocktails?
Yes. Split the spirit measure 50/50 between a traditional pour and a 0.0% bottle. The drink keeps the flavour of gin, tequila or rum and halves the alcohol. Bars call this mindful drinking or a low-ABV serve. The zero-proof half must still be a mixing spirit, not a juice mocktail.
How a 50/50 serve works
Can zero-proof spirits be used to make low-ABV cocktails behind a Singapore bar? Yes. If the spec is 45 ml gin, pour 22.5 ml gin and 22.5 ml alcohol-free gin. Same glass, ice and garnish. Non-alcoholic spirits hold the botanical frame so the drink does not collapse into tonic water.
That only works if the 0.0% bottle is built as a 1:1 spirit. See how to mix zero-proof spirits and zero-proof versus mocktails.
Builds that take a split pour
- G&T — alcohol-free gin beside the house gin.
- Margarita — Miss Agave with Lady Marmalade on the orange side.
- Rum highball — Señorita Bianco with ginger ale.
- Old Fashioned-style — Southern Belle split with bourbon.
- Spritz or Negroni-style — Signorina Valentina and Countess Cora.

Still read the ABV
The alcohol-free half is 0.0%. The other half is not. A low-ABV cocktail is not a zero-alcohol drink — relevant for driving and pregnancy. For a fully 0.0% glass, skip the split and pour only the zero-proof bottle.
